FOTD - Pearlized Purple

Hello fellow makeup lovers! I thought I'd share an eye look I was playing around with today. I've been wanting to create a look using an Inglot pigment (35) I bought not too long ago. Hope you guys like!

Face
L'Oreal Lumi foundation in W6
Sheer Cover Duo Concealer in Light/Medium
MAC blush in Blushbaby
Laura Mercier bronzer in Golden Mosaic

Eyes
Brows: Swiss Chocolate, Embark
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink
Lid: Inglot pigment in 35
Crease: Soft Brown, Swiss Chocolate, Vibrant Grape, Sketch, Inglot 382 (hot pink)
Bottom lid: Maybelline Color Tattoos in Gold Shimmer & Fuschia Fever
Inner corner: MAC Seedy Pearl
Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero

Lips
Nothing

I really loved this look, but couldn't figure out what lip to go with it. I tried a few pinks, but none of them looked right. I like the way I looks without lipstick.

What do you guys think? Would you wear a look with no lipstick?

FOTD - Blue Eyed

Hello again!

I've been really into creating wilder looks lately. Here's a look I wore to school yesterday.

Face
Maybelline Dream Fresh beauty balm in Medium/Deep
NARS blush in Orgasm

Eyes
Urban Decay primer potion in Eden
Wet n Wild palettes:
Blue Had me at Hello
& Sparkle 'Til the Morning
Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero

Lips
Sonia Kashuk lipstick in Sheer Bronzey Nude

I based this look off MakeupbyLeina's look below:
I wish I could make my brows look as great as her! I left my brow stuff at home, so my brows were a bit funky! I guess that's what happens when you do your makeup at school. Oh well!

Would you ever rock a blue-eyed look?

FOTD - Kelly Rowland's Kiss Down Low

By now some of you may have seen the crazy amount of makeup tutorials popping up from this Kelly Rowland video:

There are SO many good looks in this vid, I may do a few (or all) of them. :) I didn't have the exact colors for this look, but I improvised a bit. Hope you like!~

Some stills from the look.

Under different lighting - this shows off the shading better.

I couldn't decide on the lips. The lip on the right is closer to what was used in the video.

Face
L'Oreal Lumi foundation in W6
MAC blush in Desert Rose

Mine turned out pretty different, since I don't own a dark enough green or a blue eyeliner.

Eyes
NYX jumbo pencil in Milk
NYX pencil in White Pearl
MAC Soft Brown

Inglot: 60 (golden yellow),
59 (lime green),
372 (turquoise),
338 (dark turquoise)

Wet n Wild I heart Matte palette:
left side eyelid color (pastel green),
left side crease color (blue)

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette:
Deep End,
Vanilla

Brows: MAC Swiss Chocolate, Embark

Lips
Revlon Lip Butter in Sorbet
OR
Revlon Pink Pout

Above: I tried to more closely replicate the color and ended up with a lip that looked awful on me, but I thought I'd share for laughs anyways. (this is OCC Hoochie + Feathered)

Have you seen the video? Which is your favorite look?

FOTD - Makeupgeek March Challenge - Colorblocking

Hey guys! I finally decided to join in one of Makeupgeek's monthly challenges. The challenge this month was to create a look using these images as inspiration:

I was pretty nervous about submitting a look, because I've never done this before. I only just submitted mine in the nick of time.

Here's my look:

I used way too many products to list them all (though if you'd like to know, I'll post). I used an old Sephora palette, Inglot + MAC eyeshadows. I tried a combination of OCC lip tars (Hoochie + Pretty Boy + Feathered), but it didn't quite work out. I then slathered on some of MAC's Rebel, but toned it down to a stain. I think that looks much better.

Wish me luck!

New Revlon Lip Butters!

I heard about the new shades a few months back and have been waiting *patiently* for the shades to arrive in stores. Well, I finally came across some empty stacks at Target a few days ago and I knew it was time to hit the pavement and find these beauties.

Today I came across three of the new four shades and left with all three, though I hadn't intended to! I did not purchase Pink Lemonade (not only because it wasn't there), because although I'm sure it's a beautiful shade, my lips are so dark that I don't think the color would work on me.

Sam's Birthday - FOTD

This past thursday was my husband Sam's birthday! We had a very lowkey hangout with friends; went out to eat and then came back home to play some Zombie Call of Duty.

Once again,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HONEY!

Here is a picture of the cake I baked for Sam's birthday. :) No frosting, because it's a very milky cake.

Below is the makeup I wore that day.
Face
Korres face primer
L'Oreal Lumi foundation in W6
MAC blush in Coppertone and Stereo Rose

Eyes
Urban Decay primer in Eden
MAC Ricepaper + Malt, Soft Brown, Swiss Chocolate
Mirabella Semiformal
Maybelline gel liner in Brown
Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara
NYX liquid crystal glitter liner in Crystal Silk

Lips
Lip balm

Hopefully you can't tell from the pictures that I was feeling very sick that day. This has been a rough week, healthwise, but I think I'm finally starting to get better. Yay!

Birchbox - March 2013

Subscription purchased by me, affiliate links within post

{In this month's box}:
Caldrea Body Lotion packets
Incoco Nail Polish stickers
Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry shampoo
Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream

*Extra: Madewell for Birchbox Emery Board

Caldrea Body Lotion packets (full size: $22)
I think I have enough lotion samples to last me a lifetime, haha. I'm actually interested to try these out, though there's something about getting packet samples that turns me off a bit. I received three different lotion samples: Aloe Water Apricot, Coconut Fig Leaf, & Tea Olive Lime. They are aromatherapeautic lotions, which I've actually been researching a bit as of late (funnily enough). I'll update this once I've tried these out.

Incoco Nail Polish stickers (full size $9-11)
When I heard we were getting nail polish stickers, I was so disappointed. The nail polish stickers I've seen are usually geared towards tweens and generally just something I'd toss. These, however, have beautiful designs. I was not expecting to like them as much as I do and I honestly can't wait to try these out. These Incoco nail polish stickers are not childish at all, but very styling!

Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry shampoo (full size: $25)
I've tried a few dry shampoos in the past that I didn't like, so I've been pretty skeptical about trying new ones. I'm glad I received a brand I've never tried before and I look forward to seeing how this one works. Yay for less shower days! (joking, joking)

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream (full size $20)
I actually don't use any kind of shaving cream, because my skin reacts badly to it. I'll be giving this away to a friend.

*Extra: Madewell for Birchbox Emery Board (full size: $5)
This emery board is very flowery! You can never have too many of these and I appreciate getting one with a cute design on it :)

Lately I feel I've been falling out of love with Birchbox. Though my boxes have been average (not too amazing, not too disappointing), I'm just not sure I want to keep the service anymore. I've been asking myself that question for too long now that I think it may be time to quit.

You can purchase a subscription to Birchbox through my referral link {here} or just go to Birchbox.com

What did you think of this month's box?

NOTD - 80's Nails

Hi there! Here are a few pictures of an "80's" nail design I recently put together. I started these nails for an 80's themed surprise party last Saturday, but didn't finish because I fell in love with so many of the nails I saw online.

I actually decided to finally purchase a nail brush kit to improve my nail art ability. :) BOY do actual nail brushes make a difference to regular art brushes, haha.

Here are the nails I had Saturday:

...And here are my updated nails:

What I used:

Essie Base Coat
Essie Top Coat
Sinful Colors "Snow Me White"
Circus by Andrea's Choice "Spectacle"
Circus by Andrea's Choice " Somersault"
theBalm "Don't Pink and Drive"
Zoya "Kylie #2"
L'Oreal "Not a Cloud in Sight"
Wet n Wild "Ebony Hates Chris"

Here are some of the inspiration pictures I found online:

FOTD - 80's Makeup

Last Saturday, my sister threw her husband an 80's themed surprise birthday party. She went all out; piles of candy, black lights, rubics cube cake, ultimate 80's cds and records.

I didn't have any "80's clothing" so I decided to do something wild with my makeup, instead.

Voila:

It took a while to get my hair to stay up like this. I don't usually style it so high and with it being a bit on the short side, it took quite a few bobby pins.

I tried to create two different gradients on my eyes. On the top lid, peach to hot pink. On the bottom, blue to green.

Face
Korres face primer
L'Oreal Lumi foundation in W6
MAC Sunbasque + Stereo Rose

Eyes
Urban Decay primer potion in Eden
MICA Beauty Cosmetics gel liner in black
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara

Top lid:
Inglot 368 (peach), 60 (yellow), 382 (hot pink)
MAC Soft Brown, Swiss Chocolate, Expensive Pink, Red Brick, Rice Paper

Bottom lid:
Inglot 59 (lime green), 372 (light turquoise), 338 (dark turquoise)

Lips
OCC Lip tar in Pretty Boy
(OCC Lip tar in Nylon above picture)

I first tried a lighter pink, but thought the darker one was a bit more out there.

Hey! Check out my nail post {here}

Have you ever gone to an 80's party? Would you rather go wild on your makeup or your clothes?

Bridesmaid Wedding Makeup

I was the matron of honor for my sister's wedding (because I'm married that makes me a matron, I guess). I've wanted to share this makeup look for quite some time. It's my favorite look that I've ever done.

My sister, our mutual best friend (Bree), and I went to a friend's house to have our hair done. We piled our makeup palettes, brushes, mascaras, fake lashes and God knows what else on her table. I wish I'd taken a picture of that disaster. It was so much more fun getting our hair and doing our own makeup, rushing to meet the photographer at my mom's apartment (we were late).

I think for bridal beauty it's more important to enhance your natural beauty than to blow it all out with a dramatic look. Ten, twenty, fifty years down the line you are going to want to remember what YOU looked like during the wedding.

Our friend, Bree, did my sister's makeup from a look we had both collaborated on.

My friend, Bree, and I waiting for the photographer to be ready for us.

What I used:

FACE
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 330 Natural Tan
MAC Pro-longwear Concealer in NW35
Laura Mercier Shimmerbloc in Golden Mosaic
MAC blush in Coppertone

EYES
Maybelline Color tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (2nd half of lid only)
Laura Mercier Shimmerbloc in Golden Mosaic, peach tone (lid) + dark brown (lightly on outer V)
Urban Decay 15th anniversary palette, Flow (tearduct)
MAC Swiss Chocolate
MAC Ricepaper
Maybelline gel liner in Brown
Urban Decay eyeliner in Demolition
Ardell Individial Eyelashes

LIPS
NYX Lip Liner in Natural or Ever
Velvet Teddy

NAILS

If you are a big makeup fan, I'm sure you've heard of Revlon's Lip Butters by now. The Lip Butters lie somewhere in between lip balm and lipstick. They are sheer, pigmented, and beautiful. With over twenty shades available, there is a lip shade for everyone. Here are the few shades that I own: Fig Jam, Peach Parfait, Creamsicle, Tutti Frutti, and Candy Apple.
