ipsy - July 2013

This month's ipsy bag was all about beauty at the beach. It couldn't have come at a better time, what with Chicago being hit with heat wave after heat wave. I honestly haven't felt up to wearing makeup lately, but this heat still can't tame my excitement over this month's ipsy bag arrival!

{In this month's bag}:
Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in "Coral Crush"
BH Cosmetics - California Collection eyeshadow sample
Sexy Hair - Soy Renewal Beach Spray, Conditioning & Texturizing
Nailtini nail polish in "Mai Tai"
Coola Mineral Sunscreen Rose Essence SPF 20

Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in "Coral Crush"

I love receiving new lip products to try out, but I wasn't a fan of this one. It was a bit streaky on my lips and not the right color for me. Light coral pinks are a tough match for my skintone, unfortunately. I'll be giving this one away to a friend.

BH Cosmetics - California Collection eyeshadow sample

This mini palette was so unexpected! When I heard we were getting an eyeshadow sample from BH Cosmetics, I figured we would be receiving something a lot smaller like in ipsy's __ and __ bags. I don't get much use out of those mini palettes now, because they are just too teeny tiny. I've always wanted to try out BH Cosmetics eyeshadows and was so excited to find this sample palette in my bag! It's quite a lot bigger than the previous sample palettes we've received. It contains three eyeshadows, which are available throughout the California Collection palettes:

Hollywood
San Francisco
Malibu

The colors included are absolute stunners. Now that I've finished filling my MAC palette, BH Cosmetics might be the next eyeshadow brand to look into. The California Collection palettes are only $7 each!

Sexy Hair - Soy Renewal Beach Spray, Conditioning & Texturizing

This was a bad pick for me. I already have wild and wavy hair, so I don't need any type of texturizing spray. I'm not sure how well this works, because I just don't notice a difference when applied.

Nailtini nail polish in "Mai Tai"

I swear Birchbox and ipsy have turned me into a nail polish fiend! Before these subscription services, I didn't have a wide variety of nail polishes. However, this burnt orange seems more appropriate for Fall than for Summer. I thought this bag was all about beach beauty!

Coola Mineral Sunscreen Rose Essence SPF 20

I'm all for trying new sun care products. Typical sunscreen is so thick and uncomfortable to wear, but so very necessary if you are going out in the sun. I'm very curious to see how this one wears through the Chicago heat.

The bag:

This month's bag was very different from previous bags. It's a hot pink, plastic, see-through bag and the first to include ipsy's name on the outside. I'm glad we're receiving bags of different shapes now instead of virtually the same size, shape, but different prints. I definitely see myself using this bag to carry my brushes. Great bag this month!

What did you think of this month's ipsy bag?
