ipsy - September 2013

September's ipsy bag featured items for the classic beauty. When I think of "classic beauty," I think winged liner, thick lashes, and luscious red lips.

{In this month's bag}:
Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in "Big Apple"
NYX Eyeshadow in "Charcoal"
Starlooks Eyeliner in "Obsidian"
"It's So Big" Volumizing Mascara by Elizabeth Mott
Three (!) Freeman Paper Masks:
            -Purifying Star Fruit
            -Brightening Rose
            - Hydrating Blue Agave

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in "Big Apple"

Cailyn's tinted lip balm is surprisingly pigmented. Before applying it, I figured it would be just a wash of red. It can actually be built up to a pretty saturated color, which I think is great! I can't say that I will use this too often, though. I've become pretty partial to my "Ruby Woo" red lip by MAC. Sorry, Cailyn! I'd be interested to see what other colors they carry, but will be giving this one away.

NYX Eyeshadow in "Charcoal"

I'm not a big gray or smoke-colored smoked eye gal. Although this one looks nice, I'll be giving this away as well.

Starlooks Eyeliner in "Obsidian"

I wish we'd gotten a wider variety of colors! It seems like we've been getting black after black liner recently. It's great to have backups, but I'd rather try something new.

"It's So Big" Volumizing Mascara by Elizabeth Mott

I'm curious to see how this mascara turns out. There seemed to be a lot of product on the wand when pulled out of the tube. I'm worried this one may be less flattering ad more clumpy. I'll update this once I've tried it out!

Freeman Paper Masks:

I received three different masks: Purifying Star Fruit, Brightening Rose, and Hydrating Blue Agave. The only other mask I've tried from Freeman (ipsy bag, Jan 2012) was just ok. These seem like a fun activity for a lonely Saturday night, but I'm not expecting any dramatic results. Of course, if they do blow me away, I'll update this mini review.

The bag:

I loved this month's bag. The pattern on the bag is like a funky twist to lace. I could see myself using this everyday. Though it is a bit thin on the inside, it feels sturdier than some of the other thinner bags we've received.

You can purchase an ipsy subscription {here}.

What did you think of this month's bag?

  1. I love sheet masks, I need to get some of the Freeman ones, since they're so cheap :) I do like Freeman masks...but I'm a big mask fan in general. I'm interested to see how the mascara is..I am swimming in mascaras right now!

    1. I'm the same way! I love trying out new masks and seeing how they work. I love how these are so affordable, too. I'll let you know how that mascara turns out! :)
